President Aliyev condemns EU resolution on Azerbaijan

"This is political provocation based on lies and slander,” Aliyev told reporters in Baku. "To me, the resolution is nothing but a piece of paper.”

Aliyev said anti-Azerbaijan forces, including Armenian lobbying groups in Europe, pushed the resolution through the European Parliament to discredit Azerbaijan. 

"We are aware of the forces behind this,” the president said. "The only goal of these forces is to discredit Azerbaijan, which is a developing, modern, independent and tolerant nation.”

Aliyev said all efforts by the "foreign circles seeking to dominate Azerbaijan” will fail. 

"No outside force can influence Azerbaijan’s policies that are based on our national interests,” he said.
