Body of another SOCAR oil worker found in Caspian Sea

The body of another Azerbaijani oil worker missing in the Caspian Sea after the Dec. 4 rig fire at the Guneshli field has been found, the Ministry of Emergencies said on its website.

The body was discovered on Jan. 3 some 65 km off the Turkmen coast, the ministry said. The worker was identified thanks to the life jacket on him.

It was the eighth oil worker found so far. The search for 21 others is still continuing.

Firefighters have yet to extinguish the blaze at platform No 10 at the Guneshli deposit in Azerbaijan’s section of the Caspian Sea.
