Armenian opposition leader urges easing of tension with government

Leader of the opposition Prosperous Armenia party Gagik Tsarukyan has issued a statement urging the easing of confrontation between the opposition and the government, the News.am website said on 18 February.
The statement, however, did not mention the meeting between Tsarukyan and President Serzh Sargsyan on 17 February mediated by the ARF (Armenian Revolutionary Federation) Dashnaktsutyun party.
"Each and every citizen's life and dignity is dear to me. No end can justify even one innocent person's blood. Both the government's and the opposition's aim is not to cross the line of common sense. All problems should be solved in a peaceful, lawful and political way," the statement published by News.am said.
