Don't call me the Human Barbie!

Don't call me the Human Barbie!
12.06.2015 14:58
She first hit the headlines for her surreal doll-like appearance, however Valeria Lukyanova says that she can't stand being called the 'human Barbie.'

In a recent interview, Valeria revealed that she finds the comparison 'degrading and insulting.'

Valeria, 29, went on to explain that she found it particularly offensive because it suggested that she was deliberately attempting to emulate someone else.

In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Valeria explained her discomfort with her nickname.

She said: 'I think it's even a little degrading and insulting, but I'm used to it now, since that's what my work demands and this is precisely the image most fans request.'

Valeria, who insists her looks are entirely natural, except for her breasts, continued to say that the reason she accepted her alias was because it had become part of her identity.

She said: 'I comply with it because it's become part of my aesthetic image, but I don't like it.'

We last saw the Ukrainian model in May, when she stepped back into the public eye after a six-month hiatus with a racy new photo shoot.

She had been avoiding any media attention following an incident in November last year.

Valeria says she was the victim of a random attack close to her home in Ukraine, during which she was 'punched and strangled' by two men on Halloween night,.

The attack led to her being hospitalised for facial wounds.

Some accused the doll-like model of using the attack as a cover-up story, and said she had actually gone into hospital for cosmetic surgery, but Valeria denied this.

The next few months could see the Ukrainian start to appear less like her doppelganger Barbie.

Last year, she claimed she wanted to turn into an 'Amazon Woman', having been inspired by an all-female warrior from Greek mythology.

'She had a beautiful and warlike figure, the body of an Amazon,' said Valeria, who is married to Ukrainian businessman Dmitry Shkrabov.

'I want the same magnificent figure. I no longer like my body. It needs some muscle.'

Valeria, claims she has given up smoking and drinking and follows a very strict diet, eating tiny amounts of raw fish and drinking fresh fruit juice and water - which is an improvement on her previous regime.

In the past, Valeria claimed she followed a 'breatharian' lifestyle; a cult that believes food - and possibly water - are not necessary for life.

Breatharians claim instead, that they can exist on 'cosmic micro-food'.

'In recent weeks I have not been hungry at all,' she said at the time. 'I'm hoping it's the final stage before I can subsist on air and light alone.'
