Turkey deploys Osman Gazi floating platform to double Black Sea gas output
16.10.2026 12:30

Turkey is set to launch its first floating production facility, the Osman Gazi, on October 17, aiming to double daily natural gas output at the deepwater Sakarya field in the Black Sea, according to the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.

Engineered for an operational lifecycle of at least 20 years, the platform is projected to boost Sakarya's daily production from the current 10 million to 20 million cubic meters. Turkish authorities estimate that this increased volume will satisfy the household natural gas demand of roughly 8 million homes nationwide. Discovered by the Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) in 2020, the offshore Sakarya field holds estimated recoverable reserves exceeding 700 billion cubic meters.
