Bulgaria expects to buy Azerbaijani gas

Bulgaria expects to buy Azerbaijani gas
29.05.2020 08:21
Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Baku, the Bulgarian leader's office said.

"Bulgaria expects to purchase gas from Azerbaijan. Our country made serious claims for diversification, and Azerbaijan is our strategic partner,” Plevneliev said.

The Bulgarian president said his country's strategic goal is to ensure diverse gas sources and market price for the fuel.

"It is no secret that Bulgaria pays the highest price for gas. Bulgarians and the Bulgarian industry do not deserve that. Low gas price will provide for higher incomes in the Bulgarian industry and more jobs,” the president said.

"Bulgaria declared its strategic partnership with Azerbaijan last year,” he said.

"We want more active trade in the pharmacy and light industries, as well as cigarettes and Bulgarian agriculture products.”
