The Somali based jihadi group al-Shabaab have released a bizarre new video in which they encourage people to join their band of terrorists by showing off how they enjoy poaching in Kenya.

The shocking video shows militants from the al-Qaeda affiliated group hunting a giraffe and hacking its body into pieces n the Boni forrests whilst another fighter urged Muslims to wage jihad.

al-Shabaab claims that jihad is the 'tourism of the ummah (nation)' and proceeds to show their fighters swimming in murly swamps and practicising their target practice on a beach.

The jihadis in Somalia openly admit to poaching animals in nature reserves in order to feed its small band of heavily armed militants.

The group try to justify their actions by claiming that giraffes' are a permittable reward from God.

Speaking in Somali, one fighter says: 'As you can see our brothers here get injured to ease our journey, Allah has granted us this great reward; a giraffe.

'Alhamdulillah (praise be to God) there is no shortage of meat here. It's a great blessing from Allah.

'Here, you do not need a permit to hunt these animals. In the lands of Islam these animals are free,' he boasts.

The fighter also slams the Kenyan government for their recent attacks on al-Shabaab forces.

'We also send our condolences to the widows of the Martyred Sheikhs and other Muslim brothers who were killed by the Kenyan government.

'Let them know that we are now inside Kenya and that we will take revenge on their behalf.'

The video shows mainly Somali and Kenyan fighters, as well as several Caucausian looking men, trekking through the jungle and hinterland in Garissa county, Kenya.

Several white fighters can be seen in the video but there faces have been blurred by al-Shabaab to hide their identities.

As well as killing a giraffe, the militants are shown hunting an African buffalo as well as catching a large hoard of colourful red fish.

The rise of al-Shabaab activity inside the Boni forests has led to many animals in the area moving north.
