Parisians share messages of 'love', 'compassion' and 'solidarity'

'Liberty', 'compassion', 'love' and 'solidarity' - these are some of the words the people of Paris have used to describe their city as they rally against the terrorist attacks that killed 129 people last Friday.

Tragedy sent the country into mourning but the the people of France have emerged hopeful, standing strong side by side with many refusing to feel intimidated.

Parisian blogger Yanique Francis, 33, took to the streets of Paris to ask inhabitants to sum up their feelings in one word - and the overwhelming message was one of hope.

Parisians wrote down their word on a piece of paper - either in French or English - with many stressing that they would not 'stop living' and others believed the tragedy had actually strengthened the capital.

The city suffered five attacks across Paris on Friday evening with 129 deaths and 352 injured from shootings at the Bataclan concert hall, Stade de France and restaurants and bars in the 'Bobo' quarter - which ISIS has claimed responsibility for.

Yanique, who moved from New York and runs the blog My Parisian Life summed up the atmosphere in the city following the attacks as one of 'compassion'.

She said: 'Not being from Paris, but calling Paris home, it's been an absolute shock.

'What I've seen there is so much hope, so much compassion.

'Everyone has been so unified. It takes an huge amount of strength to carry on when you're scared you might be attacked.

'Getting on the metro, sitting on the terrasse, taking the kids to school. It's a beautiful thing to see, that Paris will always be Paris.'

And Yanique was not alone in the feeling that the city had banded together.
