Russian jets destroy hundreds of terror targets in just two days

The demolition saw more than 1,000 tankers controlled by ISIS wiped out.

Among the cities pounded by the Kremlin were the capital Damascus, Aleppo, Homs as well as Raqqa - the barbaric terror group's stronghold.

Putin's air force launched its campaign in support of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad's forces in September.

But the Russian president bolstered airstrikes after savage ISIS blew up an airliner over Sinai in October, killing all 224 people on board.

The fearless leader said at the time: "Our military work in Syria must not only continue.

"It must be strengthened in such a way so that the terrorists will understand that retribution is inevitable."

Spokesman for the Russian Defence Ministry Igor Konashenkov confirmed the latest bombings in a statement.

He said: "Russian bombers taking off from the Khmeimim airbase flew on combat missions to destroy tanker convoys and oil refineries in the areas of oilfields in the north and east of Syria.

"A major oil depot was destroyed 15 kilometres southwest of the city of Raqqa."
