ISIS launches own POLICE force

ISIS launches own POLICE force

MPs last night voted to send RAF jets over Syria to hit ISIS' core infrastructure such as weapons factories and lucrative oil fields.

But the scale of the task facing David Cameron and allies in unseating the jihadi killers from the region is a daunting one.

With more than 30,000 fighters according to official estimates, ISIS is clearly intent on building the 'state' alluded to in its full name.

Also known as Daesh, the group has reportedly released photos showing its 'police officers' pounding the beat in Anbar province in Iraq.

The propaganda pictures purportedly released by ISIS online show 'officers' going about seemingly routine duties.

One picture shows a cop on a motorbike, another at the side of a 4x4 vehicle making a stop at night.

The photos were taken in the Anbar province of Iraq, it is believed.

Officers using walkie-talkies in cars and using computers in a 'station' are included.

Just how these cops hold the population, who it taxes as a regular country would, are held to account, and under what laws, is open to question.

Funding these level of organisation, as well as taxation, is the oil industry hijacked by ISIS in Syria and Iraq, with David Cameron saying UK airstrikes will focus on damaging this income source.

The first bombs dropped on Syria in the early hours of this morning were aimed at oil production facilities, and were "largely successful", the MoD has said.
