Vladimir Putin puts WAR on back-burner…to focus on diet

The Russian president has been busy beefing up his forces to "wipe out ISIS” planning on sending 150,000 soldiers to obliterate the terrorist organisation in its Syrian HQ.

And the communist premier is engaged in a war of words with Turkey after officials shot a Russian rocket out of the sky, killing one of its pilots.

But international affairs may have to take a backseat as Putin yesterday declared he was hell bent on getting Russia producing shopping bag staples akin to the aisles of Waitrose.

Put simply, it appears nothing other than organic will do for Vlad.

Farming is notably absent from Russia’s sprawling estate, but if the country were to up its agricultural presence it could make enough food to feed the planet.

But the Russian Bear has had a horrible history with farming and poorly thought out reforms caused widespread drought and famine as recent as 1963.

Yet there’s no chance that it will follow agricultural behemoth America’s genetically modified preferences.

The Kremlin have rejected any scientifically engineered food, and is hoping to cash in on "high end” grocery shoppers in wealthy countries.

In a blow to UK and Irish farmers, Putin declared his state was best positioned to supply the posh food unlike any other "Western” producers.

”We are not only able to feed ourselves taking into account our lands, water resources – Russia is able to become the largest world supplier of healthy, ecologically clean and high-quality food which the Western producers have long lost,” he said during his yearly parliamentary speech to the Russian people yesterday.
