Gaddafi's playboy son freed after kidnap horror

Hannibal was reportedly visiting his wife when he was snatched by gunmen of the Lebanese Amal Movement.

The 40-year-old businessman was freed in Baalbek city and dispatched to Beirut, according to cops.

The former playboy was granted political asylum in Oman in 2012 after fleeing Libya to Algeria after his dictator dad was killed by rebels in a 2011 uprising.

Three of Colonal Gaddafi’s sons also died at the hands of the rebels on the same day.

Hannibal, the fifth son of the late dictator, repeatedly hit the headlines for his flamboyant behaviour and was once arrested for drink-driving in his Porsche on the Champs-Elysees in Paris.

Hannibal and his Lebanese wife, Aline Skaf, sparked a diplomatic incident with Switzerland when they were arrested in a luxury Geneva hotel for assaulting two former servants.

Al-Sadr, one of the most prominent Shia clerics of the 20th Century, disappeared along with two others during a trip to Libya in 1978.

Muammar Gaddafi denied any involvement in his disappearance, but many suspect he was the mastermind behind it.

The case has long soured relations between the two countries.

It is not known how long Hannibal has been in Lebanon.

He was under house arrest while in Oman with his sister Ayesha and mother Safiya.
