Putin cruise missile fired into block of flats after mission goes HORRIBLY wrong

Nyonoska, a village in north-west Russia, played scene to the carnage earlier after the cruise missile "deviated from its designated flight path" due to an unidentified problem.

Miraculously no residents were hurt in the smash on the three-storey building, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.

The village is near a Russian naval base at Severodvinsk, and was fired from a defence ministry test range.

Russian armed forces are thought to have been testing the weapon to use against sick jihadi terror cult ISIS in Syria.

The missile went astray while it was being tested by NPO Mashinostroyeniye, one of Russia's leading manufacturers, who have not commented.

The ministry didn't mention the missile type or offer any other details. It said experts were working to determine the reasons behind the failure.

France also used cruise missiles for the first time against the Islamic State during strikes in Iraq today, Paris said.

SCALP long-range missiles were launched from French fighter jets based in the United Arab Emirates and Jordan as part of a bombing raid that targetted a command centre, training site and logistics depot in western Iraq.

The missiles, used for the first time in Libya in 2011, cost €850,000 euros each.

Russia said earlier this month it had used a submarine in the Mediterranean to launch Kalibr cruise missiles at Raqqa, the de-facto capital of ISIS.

Moscow has fired cruise missiles at targets in Syria from the Caspian Sea.

Vladimir Putin started bombing Syria in September, with the expressed target of ISIS militants, although western critics said Russia was also targeting rebels fighting President Bashar al-Assad's regime.

Russia today insisted that the Free Syrian Army is providing its air force with ISIS targets to strike.

Last week, Daily Star Online reported how Putin is preparing for World War Three despite its armed forces being slow and ill-equipped.
