Saudi Arabia team up with 33 states to destroy Islamic State

A Saudi spokesman vowed to "protect the Islamic nation from the evils of all terrorist groups and organisations".

He said the terror group including ISIS, also known as Daesh, "wreak death and corruption on Earth."

Defence minister Mohammed bin Salman said the group would fight terrorists in Iraq, Syria, Libya, Egypt and Afghanistan.

He also confirmed the group will fight depraved Islamic State jihadis, as well as "any terrorist organisation that appears in front of us".

The huge coalition combines Arab countries like Egypt, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates with Islamic countries like Malaysia, Pakistan and Turkey.

But Iran - Saudi Arabia's arch rival for influence in the Arab world - is not part of the coalition.

The alliance comes after western pressure, particularly from the USA, for nations like Saudi Arabia to help tackle ISIS.

ISIS have identified many middle eastern countries as a potential target for their attacks.

They have performed sick acts of terrorism in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, and have also threatened to overthrow the monarchies of the Gulf.
