The sick attacks saw seven die, including five terrorists and two civilians during the mid-morning rampage.

The haul of weapons included bombs, guns, ammunition and knives in a jihadi’s rucksack as ISIS set upon a Starbucks and shopping mall.

Harrowing footage shows one of the suicide bombers exploding into a ball of fire when detonating the bomb outside a Starbucks in Jakarta.

Six explosions were confirmed as evil ISIS claimed responsibility for the cowardly spree of bombs and shootings in the mid-morning rampage.

Militants battled with cops outside the coffee chain by the busy shopping mall of Sarinah where one bomber detonated his device.

As smoke was seen billowing from the shopping centre, another bomber detonated his suicide vest in the cafe, wounding several inside.

As people poured out, waiting gunmen opened fire on them, killing a Canadian man.

At the same time, two militants attacked a cop traffic post nearby, using what witnesses described as homemade hand grenades, killing themselves and an Indonesian man.

After downtown Jakarta was shutdown for five hours, cops secured the shopping centre, which stands close to the presidential palace, the U.S embassy and the UN building.

ISIS – also known as Daesh – officially claimed responsibility for the attacks.

In a statement posted online, it said: "A group of soldiers of the caliphate in Indonesia targeted a gathering from the crusader alliance that fights the Islamic State in Jakarta through planting several explosive devices that went off as four of the soldiers attacked with light weapons and explosive belts.”

Jakarta's police chief earlier told reporters: "ISIS is behind this attack definitely."

He then claimed an Indonesian militant called Bahrun Naim as the man responsible for plotting it.

Police believe Naim is in the Syrian city of Raqqa.

Tito Karnavian, Jakarta’s chief of police, said the horror unfolded this morning after one of the gang blew himself up in a Starbucks coffee shop.

At one point, a gunman could be seen walking through the streets, training his weapon on potential targets.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo ordered security forces to hunt down the perpetrators and their network.

Harits Abu Ulya, an expert on radical Islam, said he expected more attacks.

He said: "This is an indication that he has been learning from the Paris attacks and he has studied the strategy.”

Reuters photographer Darren Whiteside described the scene as the attack unfolded.

He said: "The Starbucks cafe windows are blown out. I see three dead people on the road.

"There has been a lull in the shooting but someone is on the roof of the building and police are aiming their guns at him.”
