Fury as Canada pulls out of air strikes against evil ISIS

Fury as Canada pulls out of air strikes against evil ISIS

The country’s defence minister Harjit Sajjan announced it is withdrawing its contribution to the aerial assault against the sick death cult to meet a campaign promise.

During a debate, Mr Sajjan said the CF-18 mission ended on February 15 while the last strikes from Canadian jets took place the day before.

Two military planes struck an ISIS "fighting position” near Fallujah in Iraq.

But the country is planning a revised assault against Daesh, which Mr Sajjan warned will be even more dangerous.

Canada’s liberal party revealed a refashioned commitment to the US-led campaign which includes a bigger, riskier training mission.

Mr Sajjan said: "Please keep in mind: This is a dangerous armed conflict, and this mission carries inherent risk to our men and women in uniform.

"This mission will be riskier than air operations.”

Most Canadian Armed Forces members deployed to the Middle East in the original mission established by the former government were posted in relatively safe Kuwait to support the air combat mission from the country.

But more Canadian troops will now be stationed in northern Iraq – much closer to the front lines of the battle against evil ISIS.

Mr Sajjan added: "Our people will be in close proximity to the dangers inherent in the region.”

But conservative leader Rona Ambrose slammed the move.

She said: "Bombing runs by Canadian fighter jets have provided vital cover for those battling ISIS on the ground.

"The Kurdish government, whose forces have been most effective in retaking ground from ISIS, have repeatedly requested that Canada’s bombing activities continue.

"If not this mission, then which mission?”
