ISIS behind terror attacks that killed at least 130

The terror group – also known as Daesh – has claimed responsibility for a series of massive car and suicide bombings in Syrian capital Damascus and the city of Homs.

Hundreds – including women and children – were injured after the explosives were detonated near schools at rush hour.

The US and Russia have agreed a new ceasefire to end the bloody five-year Syrian Civil War – which could begin within days.

But for now fighting, air strikes and terror attacks continue across the ravaged country.

A series of blasts ripped through the Sayyida Zeinab suburb of Damascus – killing at least 83 people and wounding more than 170 – on Saturday afternoon.

The explosions were reportedly caused by a car bomb and two suicide bombers.

Two car bombs in Homs, in central Syria, killed as many as 57 people and wounded dozens.

The blasts targeted Shia Muslim areas.

ISIS – which is dug in on the outskirts of both cities – follows a twisted interpretation of Sunni Islam and regards Shia Muslims as enemies.

US secretary of state John Kerry said he had reached a "provisional agreement" with Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov after the pair chatted over the phone on Sunday.

Kerry said: "We have reached a provisional agreement in principle on the terms of a cessation of hostilities that could begin in the coming days.”

Barak Obama and Vladimir Putin will discuss the deal later this week.

Syrian president Bashar al-Assad – thought to be under pressure from close ally and backer Putin – said he was ready for peace.

A UN ceasefire was meant to start last Friday – but air strikes and fighting on all sides has continued.
