Twisted ISIS militant ‘Omar the Chechen’ confirmed dead in bombing raid

The sinister red-bearded militant appeared in various ISIS propaganda videos and had a $5million (£3.5million ) on his head.

Reports emerged last week that al-Shisani, 30, may have died in an airstrike.

Now US defence officials have confirmed the evil "minister of war” was killed.

He worked closely with ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and featured in images grinning in front of images of a burning Big Ben.

Navy Captain Jeff Davis, a Pentagon spokesman, said: "We believe he subsequently died of his injuries.”

A total of 12 other jihadis were killed in the wave of strikes, reports claim.

The attack involved multiple waves of manned and unmanned aircraft.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group previously said al-Shishani was "clinically dead” for several days before his death was confirmed.

It comes after Russian president Vladimir Putin suprisingly ordered the withdrawl of troops from war-torn Syria.

Russian forces started a bombing campaign in the country in October but will today start pulling out of the Middle East.
