Turkey’s AKP calls for expulsion of Ahmet Davutoglu from party

Members of Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) have demanded the removal of ex-Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu from the party, Trend reports referring to Turkish media.

They also demanded the exclusion of 3 other party members. It is reported that Davutoglu’s call for carrying out reforms in the party was the reason for such a demand.

Davutoglu had earlier called for reforms in the AKP. At the same time, he noted that he was not sure that the party leadership would take this desire into account.

Davutoglu said that if his negotiations with the AKP will not bring results, a new political party will be created.

The Turkish media reported previously that a new party headed by Ali Babacan is being created in Turkey, and Ahmet Davutoglu and Abdullah Gul will join this political movement.
