Italy to tighten restrictions for unvaccinated from COVID-19 infection

Italy's Council of Ministers on Wednesday will pass a decree, tightening coronavirus restrictions for those who have not received the vaccine - measures on the Austrian model are being introduced, reported from RIA Novosti.

Thus, the government responded to the calls of the regional heads and prominent representatives of the expert community, who warned about the need to stop the fourth wave of the pandemic and avoid a nationwide lockdown ahead of Christmas.

On the other hand, the government intends to persuade more than 7 million Italians, who, for various reasons, did not get vaccinated.

As noted by La Stampa, the new decree will effectively deprive the unvaccinated of the opportunity to visit any institution or facility other than work. The document will establish new rules for the validity of the green pass COVID certificate: its version for a period of 48 hours, which can be obtained after passing the coronavirus test, will only be valid for access to work and shops with the necessary goods, as well as travel on interregional transport.

Thus, visiting restaurants in closed spaces, sports, entertainment, and cultural institutions, including workplaces, will become available only to holders of the so-called super green pass, who have received a vaccine or have had a coronavirus infection.
