Japan doubles limit on incoming tourists, easing COVID restrictions

Japan doubles limit on incoming tourists, easing COVID restrictions
01.06.2022 11:30
Japan doubled the daily limit on the number of people entering the country - up to 20,000 people, from Wednesday, June 1, reported from local media.

Japanese authorities have also eased COVID-19-related travel restrictions.

Visitors from 98 low-risk countries and regions will be exempt from coronavirus testing and quarantine, even if they have not been vaccinated against COVID-19. These countries include Russia, the United States, the UK, China, and South Korea.

Arrivals from 99 medium-risk countries and regions are exempt from testing and quarantine if they have received three COVID-19 shots. This group includes Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and several countries in Africa and the Middle East.

Travelers from countries with a high risk of contracting COVID-19 will spend three days in quarantine in a special hotel, from which they will be able to leave if they test negative for coronavirus on the third day. This group includes Albania, Pakistan, Sierra Leone, and Fiji.

The Japanese government also plans to resume receiving foreign tourists from June 10 for the first time in two years.

People from countries with a low level of spread of COVID-19 will be able to come to Japan and only within a tourist group.
