Turkiye's Canakkale Municipality wants active cooperation with Azerbaijan

The Canakkale Municipality of Turkiye would like to establish active cooperation with Azerbaijan, using its experience with sister cities in other countries, the municipality said.

"So far, we are not conducting any discussions on this matter, but we have such a desire. We want to cooperate with similar agencies of cities in Azerbaijan,” the municipality said.

The municipality implements many projects for the development of young people. With the sister cities, the Municipality of Canakkale has created an online youth network where young people can keep in touch. So, recently such a network was created between Canakkale and its twin - the city of Osnabrück (Germany).

"Once Canakkale was a place of war, it survived many tragic events,” said the municipality, noting that "fortunately, those days are left behind.”

The battle of Canakkale is an outstanding page in the history of Turkiye, when during the bloody battle of the First World War, the country defended the Bosporus and Dardanelles straits. In Turkiye, it is perceived as the beginning of the formation of the Turkish nation.
