Lithuania offers peacekeeping mission at Zaporizhzhia nuke plant

Lithuania has invited the European Union to return to consideration of the issue of introducing a military peacekeeping mission to protect the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in Ukraine.
The proposal was put forward by Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis, reported from Interfax-Ukraine.
"We have never been as close to a nuclear catastrophe as we are now. Just regretting the current situation may not be enough," the minister told journalists in Prague attending an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers.
"We must return to the same discussion that we had almost half a year ago, about the possible creation of a military peacekeeping force that would ensure nuclear safety at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant and around it," he added.
