NATO naval drills involving military from 15 countries start in Turkiye

Naval exercises of NATO with the participation of military personnel from 15 countries of the alliance have started in Turkiye, according to the Milliyet newspaper, reported from TASS.

Large-scale exercises in the Mediterranean and Aegean seas called Dynamic Mariner - Mavi Balina - Nusret - 2022 began on September 11 and will last until September 22.

The exercise will also involve the Turkish-built amphibious assault ship Sancaktar and the Anadolu amphibious assault ship, which can be configured as a light aircraft carrier. The latter is called the flagship of the Turkish Navy.

The exercises taking place in the republic are important for Ankara, since from January 1, 2023, it will take over from the UK the command of the naval component of the NATO Response Force.
