Increasing the potential of the transport and transit communications and maximal use of their capacities are of great importance for the member states of the Organization of Turkic States, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.

Speaking at the OTS summit, the Kazakh leader stressed the need to form the 'digital transportation system' which will optimize the procedure of cargo execution, facilitate prompt exchange of transport documentation and ensure alternatives for the entry to the international market.

"Our countries connect West and East, North and South. Therefore, in the current transitional period, the development of the transport and trasit communications, particularly, the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, running through the territories of three fraternal states - Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Turkiye, acquires an utmost importance," Tokayev said.

He noted that over the past 15 years alone, Kazakhstan had allocated $35 billion for the development of transport and logistic sector.

"Our country is interested in diversifying transport routes and developing logistics. Additional $20 billion of investment is planned to be raised for this purpose before 2025," he noted.

Tokayev stressed the need to take measures to develop alternative routes of railway and automobile communication between the OTS member states and modernize border checkpoints.
