Erdogan: Turkiye’s exports close to record $300B
08.12.2022 14:30
Turkiye’s exports have already approached the $300 billion mark, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in his video message to the participants of the Turkuaz-2023 summit, reported from Anadolu Agency.

"Turkiye’s export volume sets new records every month and has already approached the $300 billion mark,” the president stated.

Referring to the situation in the energy sector, Erdogan focused on the development of the Sakarya field in the Turkish sector of the Black Sea.

"Efforts to deliver gas from the field with reserves of 540 billion cubic meters continue around the clock,” he said.

The president spoke about the success of the country’s defense industry.

"If in 2022 Turkiye exported only $248 million of defense products, last year this figure reached a record $3.224 billion. This year we also forecast that exports will exceed $3 billion,” he said.

Erdogan stressed that the Turkish authorities are determined to turn the year 2023, when the centenary of the Republic will be celebrated, into a milestone in the country’s new development.

Touching upon the level of inflation in the country, the Turkish leader noted that this problem is no longer solved by using the ‘classic mechanisms’ of raising interest rates.

"Countries where they try to apply such methods are faced not only with a general increase in prices, but also with the loss of jobs,” the president stated.
