Georgia will complete the study of documents received from airlines on resuming direct flights with Russia by the end of the day, Georgian Economy and Sustainable Development Minister Levan Davitashvili said, reported from Sputnik-Georgia.

"Today, there is a demand both in the direction of Tbilisi, and Kutaisi and Batumi. There is a demand for all these three airports from both Georgian airline and Russian airlines. We will complete the study of documents within a day," Davitashvili said.

According to him, the tourism sector of Georgia will have received a profit of 300 to 400 million dollars a year after air traffic with the Russian Federation is restored.

On May 10, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree allowing Russian airlines to fly to Georgia and sell tours to this country. Immediately after that, Russian carriers announced that they plan to operate 7 direct flights from Moscow to Tbilisi and back every week.
