Japan and Ukraine signed a memorandum on infrastructure restoration, Japan’s Reconstruction Agency said, reported from foreign press.

The document was signed by Japanese Minister of Reconstruction Hiromichi Watanabe and Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov, who is on a visit to Japan.

According to the memorandum, Ukraine will benefit from the experience gained by Japanese experts during the 2011 earthquake and tsunami.

The document envisages, inter alia, the exchange of experience in the field of housing reconstruction, restoration of water supply, sewage and transport infrastructure, as well as the development of schools. The parties intend to create separate communication channels for mutual activity within the framework of the memorandum.

The Japanese government has so far provided humanitarian, food, financial and other types of assistance to Ukraine worth a total of $7.6 billion.
