Zelenskyy, von der Leyen agree to assess Ukrainian legislation for EU standards
17.01.2024 12:00
On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, the President's Office said in a message on its website.

The interlocutors discussed the key priorities of the EU-Ukraine agenda for the near future, as Ukraine approaches the actual opening of negotiations on its accession to the EU.

The President of Ukraine and the President of the European Commission agreed to start screening Ukrainian legislation, which is another step towards the opening of negotiations on Ukraine's membership in the European Union.

Particular attention was paid to the importance of unblocking the decision to provide €50 billion of EU assistance to Ukraine at an extraordinary session of the European Council to be held on February 1, 2024. Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed hope for a consensus on this issue.
