Nearly 2,000 shells fired at Ukraine over past day
30.01.2024 18:32
Over the past day, Ukraine's non-frontline areas were subjected to a massive attack. Cherkasy, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovograd, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Kharkiv, and Donetsk regions, including Kyiv region, were mainly affected by drone strikes by the Russian army.

According to the information provided by the local authorities in the provinces , in the last 24 hours, about two hundred shells were fired into the territory of Ukraine, in addition to about a hundred residential areas where active fighting was going on. Except for the frontline cities, 5 people were killed and about 10 people were injured.

Yuri Ihnat, an official of the Ukrainian Air Force Command, commented on the situation to Report: "On the night of January 30, Russia shelled the Donetsk region. Thus, the Myrnohrad city of this region was hit with two S-300 missiles. In addition, during the attack, 35 Shahed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were used. Units of the Ukrainian army destroyed 15 of the UAVs. 15 UAVs were neutralized in the regions deep in the territory of Ukraine. The remaining UAVs struck the frontline territories."

"It is not the first time that both military and civilian objects are attacked with Shaheds. We understand that attacks are carried out in areas close to the front, and it's very difficult to hit Shaheds at such a short distance. There are many objective factors including lack of proper weapons, short range, etc. I don't have exact information about losses and damages. In short, this Russian attack was also thwarted. Moreover, for some reasons, not all Russian UAVs reach the target."
