Trump to make White House statement on artificial intelligence

Trump to make White House statement on artificial intelligence
28.09.2026 15:00

U.S. President Donald Trump will make a statement on artificial intelligence at the White House on Sept. 28. The event is scheduled for 2 p.m. Washington time, or 10 p.m. Baku time, U.S. media reported.

The White House has not disclosed details of the announcement in advance.

Trump previously held a dinner at the White House with Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei. Trump described Amodei as “very highly respected” and said a planned meeting with leading AI executives would be important.

Trump and U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Mike Johnson are expected to meet leading AI company executives on Tuesday.

Amodei has called for the pace of AI development to be slowed if necessary on safety grounds. Trump has opposed slowing AI development, saying it could weaken the United States in its competition with China.
