It could be Pompeii - PHOTO

It could be Pompeii: Weekend's volcanic eruptions leave villages around Mount Sinabung in Sumatra looking eerily reminiscent of ancient Roman city.
Volcanic eruptions have left this area of North Sumatra, Indonesia, in a state eerily similar to that of Pompeii, the ancient Roman city in southern Italy which was destroyed by Mount Vesuvius in AD 79. These photographs show an ash-covered village, Sigarang Garang, in the shadow of Mount Sinabung, which has been abandoned by thousands. The area has been buried in debris and mud, with experts suggesting anyone who remains in the area is at risk.More than 25,000 people are estimated to have been evacuated from villages surrounding Mount Sinabung, which erupted twice last week after lying dormant for more than 400 years until 2010. Earlier this month, the volcano erupted 50 times in just one night. The 8,530ft mountain has erupted sporadically since September. Eleven people are thought to have been killed by the volcano, with hundreds more falling ill after breathing in dangerous gases and ash.(dailymail.co.uk)ANN.Az
