Rouhani: US should correct its wrong steps in nuke talks
27.02.2015 16:00
Iran’s president Hassan Rouhani said that the US should correct its wrong steps taken in the nuclear talks with Iran.

Iran's president said that the US administration is responsible for current disputes over the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program.

They prevented the three European countries the UK, France and Germany, from achieving a nuclear agreement with Iran in 2004, the Iranian president said, the country’s official IRNA news agency reported Feb. 27.

The aforementioned three countries now confess that the US was behind the issue, Rouhani said.

"Now it is time to the US side to correct the wrong steps,” he said.

In 2003 Iran made a deal with UK, France and Germany regarding its nuclear program, and agreed to suspend its uranium enrichment, and allow for international inspection to take place on its soil. However, one year later, Iran stopped implementing the agreement, as the EU presented the country with "inadequate" proposals.

Rouhani said that Iran tries to take the sanctions weapon away from the enemies, adding negotiating is best approach for achieving this purpose.

If the negotiations fail, all world will understand that the counter side is responsible for that, Rouhani argued.

The US officials themselves confess that if they do not achieve a result in the ongoing nuclear talks they will be isolated in the world.

A fresh round of Iran-P5+1 talks will be held in Geneva on March 2. Iran and the six governments are aiming to reach a political understanding by March 31 and agree on a comprehensive deal by a self-imposed June 30 deadline.

The US and its Western allies suspect Iran of developing a nuclear weapon - something that Iran denies.
