Incredible footage of the moment a Kurdish fighter steps on an ISIS IED

Incredible footage of the moment a Kurdish fighter steps on an ISIS IED

Incredible footage has emerged showing the moment a brave Kurdish fighter stepped on an Islamic State-planted IED in Iraq - only to walk away telling his comrades 'it's nothing'.

The clip shows several Peshmerga resistance fighters battling ISIS terrorists near the jihadi stronghold of Mosul when one inadvertently detonates a massive explosive device.

Despite suffering serious leg injuries, the Kurdish solider attempts to stand up and walk away - ordering his fellow Peshmerga fighters to hand him his gun as he plans to return to the front line immediately and continue the battle against ISIS.

The footage is understood to have been filmed during last year's fall of Mosul, when ISIS terrorists seized control of the city as the Iraqi army deserted their posts and either fled or defected.

The Kurdish Peshmerga militias operating in the area were left alone in the area and were gradually forced back as the bloodthirsty jihadis seized more and more territory in western Iraq.

The recently released 2.28 long video shows several Kurdish fighters in the area around Mosul, which by that point had been booby-trapped with mines and other improvised explosive devices.

Roughly 25 seconds into the clip a man identified by the name Hajar steps on a massive IED, causing serious injuries to his legs.

The fighter temporarily drags himself  to his feet, however, and orders his comrades to give him a weapon so he can return to the frontline.

The cameraman pleads with Hajar to sit down as he shouts 'we have a wounded' in the hope another fighter can come to their aid.

Moments later Hajar clearly begins to realise the extent of his injuries and pleads for forgiveness from his colleagues in the event he is 'martyred'. He can also be heard saying' Long live Kurdistan.'

The video was recently made public on LiveLeak, where the uploader claimed the Kurdish fighter survived the IED blast.
It is not known whether eventually lost the use of his legs.

The Kurdish Peshmerga forces have been battling ISIS near Mosul for a year but have made serious gains against the terror group recently after coordinating their advances with Western and Arab warplanes carrying out strikes on ISIS targets in the area.

The Peshmerga forces are the military wing of the autonomous Kurdish region in northern Iraq. Over the border in Syria, the Kurdish militias are known as the YPG, or People's Protection Units.

The fearless Kurdish forces have repeatedly proven to be the most successful in battling ISIS in the adjoining countries, making huge advances on territory held by the terror group in recent weeks.

While they continue to coordinate their airstrikes with them, Western forces remain reluctant to provide much-needed arms to the Kurds as doing so would anger NATO-member Turkey.

Huge swathes of southern Turkey are ethnically Kurdish and Ankara has long battled an independence movement in the region. Turkey's concern is that once ISIS is defeated, the Peshmerga and YPG may switch their focus to establishing a Kurdish state in the Middle East.

Last week several hundred Kurds were killed when ISIS militants staged a series of bloody raids on Kobane - the Syrian predominately Kurdish city just yards from the Turkish border that the terrorists besieged for several months late last year.

According to unverified reports on the ground, the massive car bomb that sparked the raid was detonated after Turkish border guards opened the crossing to let the rigged ISIS vehicle into Syria.
